I've always hated people who love themselves too much, but lately I've been re-thinking about all that stuff. We are here for a very limited portion of time, we shouldn't be worrying about stupid moralisms like that one. To love oneself is something that we all should do, and sadly is something that has never been in my life. I'm sure you can find happiness much more easier if you're not afraid of exposing yourself, if you're able to enjoy your own body and your own personality.
If that means taking a picture of myself shirtless because I can find some sort of beauty in that, or if it means expressing a controversial opinion, so be it.
And in front all of that comes the inner demon of caring too much about other people's thoughts. That's an almost indestructible wall that, if you think about it, is one of the most stupid ones. Do you think the great artists or the scientists who have discovered the most incredible things would have come far worrying about what some of their friends were thinking about the things they were doing?
If I have to name one single thing I have learned this year studying psychology is that the most important impediment to be creative is a normative personality. Not being able to break the rules or think outside the box is a very sad characteristic that I have to admit I own. And I think the first step to overcome that is stop worrying about the others and start worrying about me.
We'll see if this is a new chapter of my personal journey or just a random thought that I will never follow.
